Using these “habits of mind,” they will be able to interrogate historical sources and use them to form reasoned conclusions about the past. Equally important, they will become critical users of the vast historical archives on the web. Historical Thinking Matters equips students to navigate the uncharted waters of the World Wide Web. Historical Thinking Matters was funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

Women in World History https://www.6floors.org/dossier/2010/08/women-in-world-history/ Mon, 09 Aug 2010 20:36:37 +0000 http://www.6floors.org/dossier/?p=31 Women in World HistoryWomen in World History reflects three approaches central to current scholarship in world history and the history of women: an emphasis on comparative issues rather than civilizations in isolation; a focus on contacts among different societies; and an attentiveness to “global” forces, such as technology diffusion, migration, or trade routes, that transcend individual societies. Project materials also utilize recent advances in our understanding of how historical learning takes place, including complex interaction with sources, recursive reading, and skills used by historians.
