Seems like I’m the only person in Virginia who doesn’t have a Virginia Tech sweatshirt. But, like the rest of the concerned folks around the country, my thoughts and prayers are with the students, parents, siblings and faculty of VT.

This is “Children of Abraham” week at Georgetown. And how do they launch this celebration of the arts of the religions of the Holy Land? Of course, by inviting four Buddhist monks to spend the week constructing a mandala I think this is totally awesome — long live big “C” and little “c” Catholicism.

This isn’t recycling, I promise. As we all yearn for spring and baseball, DCist picked up the photo of the day from April 2 (Opening Day) this morning–a nice surprise at the end of truly one of the longest days I’ve had in a while.

I know, sort of a strange subject matter, but tile is white and reflective, so it’s good to play with white balance and fill-flash.

This shot looks pretty good, but if you look at the other four from this set, you’ll discover exactly what i discovered: that my white balance had mysteriously been shifted 3 steps into the magenta/blue quadrant. Mystery solved on the strange pink tints on the recent shots.
